shoe saga part II

i have a pair of shoes with quite the story.

in high school i worked at sears in the shoe department. on the way to work the shoes i was wearing broke, so i put on a pair from the back room for my shift that night. i chose a comfortable and practical shoe for a night of being on my feet.

i took my dinner break to see a friend and for some reason we went out the back door of arby’s and stepped over oozing trash. at that moment i realized i had to purchase the shoes on my feet. i couldn’t put shoes i wore outdoors back on the shelf.

fast forward to present day.

i didn’t wear the shoes much until i had to walk through snow and ice on my way into work. they were practical and had good traction, so i’d wear them on days snow boots weren’t needed.

when i was pregnant they were my go to shoe. again for the comfort and practicality. (yes, this many years later they’re still comfy.) they slip on so easily – well until my feet got fat in the last month – which was fantastic for a woman who can’t lean over and put on her own shoes.

after my pregnancy, i swore i’d never wear the shoes again. i promised nick and myself i’d wear cute femine shoes. spring and summer came and there was no need for the old shoes. i got two new pairs of new ones for christmas.

but winter rolled around. it snowed. i had my arms full when heading out the door. they were looking at me. “i’m so easy to slip on” they said.

i wore them.

i wore them a lot.

almost everyday.

now it’s spring and i shouldn’t be wearing them.

time to go shopping. i need a CUTE pair of comfy and shoes. i will not turn into a frumpy mom. i won’t.
